ABOUT ME
A twenty five year veteran of the film and TV industry, Matt has starred in such classic films as The Mighty Ducks Trilogy (see resume). He has appeared on stage at The Steppenwolf and The Pasadena Playhouse, and the Geffen. He has worked with Al Pacino, Arthur Hiller, Emilio Estevez, Alan Arkin, George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Dianne Wiest, Estelle Parsons, Thomas Schlamme, Mike Binder, David Mamet, Bobby Moresco, John Difusco, Jeffrey Hayden, Mark Rydell, Marty Landau, Eric Simonson, Susan Peretz, Lou Antonio, and Lyle Kessler.
Matthew facilitates a weekly private workshop for writers locally in Los Angeles where he is also a co-moderator on the playwright's panel for the prestigious Antaeus Playwright's lab. He is the author of a variety of works for stage and screen and a veteran character actor (IMDB Matt Doherty). He is the creator of "South by Sunset" and his online blog "Step into my Backseat" chronicles his experiences as a Ride Sharer.
A lifetime member of the Actor's Studio and graduate of Northwestern University, Matthew is committed to the craft and practice of the narrative arts. His most recent play "Brothers Play,” developed at the Antaeus Playwrights Lab, was read at the Road Theater as a part of their ongoing reading series and received further development at the Actor’s Studio West with Javier Molina directing. Other plays have been seen at NY FRINGE and in Los Angeles and Chicago. He was recently named an ACADEMY NICHOLL 2017 SEMI FINALIST and is currently under contract to write three screenplays for an Academy Award Nominated Director (sorry, can’t say which one).
